The US Navy Blue Angels recently made a visit to the Minden-Tahoe Airport – you may have heard them zooming past at speeds up to 600 mph, closing in on the speed of sound. According to this article from The Record-Courier, the famous acrobatic team will be returning in the Fall for the annual Aviation Roundup at the airport on October 13th and 14th. The Blue Angels, a well-known symbol of the Navy, are celebrating 72 years of aviation excellence. According to their website, it was “In 1946, [that] the Chief of Naval Operations, Admiral Chester Nimitz, had a vision to create a flight exhibition team in order to raise the public’s interest in naval aviation and boost Navy morale.”
